How Does Your Diet Affect Psoriasis?

What you eat can affect psoriasis symptoms. Although more research is needed to prove that a connection exists between psoriasis and diet, there is evidence that people who suffer from psoriasis can make dietary changes to alleviate the symptoms of this condition. Some of these changes include consuming gluten free, low calorie and anti-inflammatory foods. The following are some of the ways you can change your diet and lifestyle in order to ease the symptoms of psoriasis.

Eat more of the foods that fight inflammation

Psoriasis is regarded as an inflammatory condition. Certain foods can worsen inflammation. They include dairy, fatty meat, refined sugars and processed foods. Although research is limited, some individuals who have this condition state that they can manage it better by consuming more inflammation fighting foods. Some studies suggest that antioxidants such as vitamin E, vitamin C, selenium and beta carotene can make a difference. The fatty acids found in fish oil can also be beneficial.
