Ayurveda is the oldest complete medical system in the world that goes back to over 5000 years in to the history of Vedic civilization of India. It has since then, been the most important medical system in India with effective cures for most common and chronic ailments of the humankind. Ayurveda teaches that health is maintained by the balance of three subtle energies known as Vatha, Pitta and Kapha. As all life forms posses these qualities, the purpose of Ayurveda is to bring these forces in to harmony so that they promote physical, emotional and spiritual growth. Ayurveda treatments are person oriented, rather than disorder. Such an approach has proven effective over the centuries and as a result , many of Ayurvedic healing regimens have been widely accepted by the modern world. In Ayurveda, diseases are treated with herbo -mineral medicines naturally available on earth indicating that nature has a remedy for most (if not all) diseases that threatens to the living being. It is a well known fact that every pharmaceutical product developed in the western system comes from a herbal origin. During the process of isolating active ingredients from the plants to manufacture a drug some of the most useful factors are lost unnoticed resulting a chemical compound which is no more natural. For example, a drug manufactured using derivatives of a plant well known to control hypertension may control hypertension but may cause a condition of lunacy in the patient, which is not found when the whole plant is given as a decoction. Having realized the adverse effects of such condition people have begun to evaluate Ayurveda and adopt the system.
